2421 Ship's Wheel from Fishing Vessel

This ship's wheel is from the fishing vessel GEORGE T, built in Tottenville, NY in 1905. All original except for the wood braces at the base. This old fashioned drum type of steering a vessel dates back to the earliest period of ship's wheels and remained in use through the early 20th century on steam vessels. 36 in. wheel diameter, 51 in. high, 21 1/2 in. deep.
