1949 Antique Scrimshaw Wood and Whalebone Scribe

This antique scrimshaw tool, a wood and whalebone carpenter's scribe, is in as found condition. 8 7/8th in. long. 19th C. There is an illegible monogram on the bone slide. Ex collection Barbara Johnson, it is accompanied by a small whale tooth tip (not illustrated) with which it was sold at Sotheby's.
