This very interesting double flue whaling iron was found on Long Island, New York. Most likely it was used for right whales, possibly in the shore fishery. The head is of unusual small size and shape, 3 1/8 in. across the barbs. Well crafted early design, possibly late 18th C. Socket is fully served with old marlin of much later vintage. Exceptional length, 41 in.
