14431 American Toggle Type Whaling Harpoon

Whaling harpoon. American toggle type iron, ”improved” style, with acute barbed head.  Made by Charles Peters with trace of his signature PETE(RS) on one side of the head forward of the swivel pin. Charles Peters, New Bedford early 20th C.  30 3/4 in. long.  Good used condition.   

The Peters shop was moved to Mystic Seaport where it is now used as a blacksmith shop.
